To get to know Intellectual Virtues Academy, A Long Beach Public High School, we welcome and encourage you to experience the school firsthand at one of our various admission events. If you have any questions or would like to register to attend an event, please contact the front office at 562.283.4456. Personal tours can also be scheduled by calling the main school office.

Information Sessions (Recommended for the whole family)

We invite you to attend one of our Information Sessions events to learn more about the Academy’s model of education through various interactive sessions with faculty. Click the links below to make your reservation.

Upcoming Information Sessions 


School Tour (Recommended for Parents)

A great place to begin your journey would be to visit during a regular school day. School tours give you a sense of what a regular day looks like at the Academy. You will be able to observe the classroom, witness how students engage with the curriculum and collaborate with each other, and see how our innovative teachers make thinking visible. The tour also includes a brief presentation on the school’s history, mission, and curriculum.

Tours are generally about an hour long. Reservations can be made through the online event page.

  • Friday, December 1 at 9 a.m.


Applicant Shadow Days

To help applicants get to know the Academy, we invite you to schedule a Shadow Day. The visit includes time in two classrooms, as well as snack with the Academy Student Ambassadors. Applicants will get a sense of what it's like to be a Triton, and they will have the opportunity to ask any question they have about high school. 

Shadow Day visits begin at 9 a.m. and end at 10:45 a.m. To sign-up for a Shadow Day, visit the sign-up genius page here.

Public Lottery- February 8

A public lottery drawing is scheduled for February 8 and is open to the public. Names are randomly chosen until available spaces are filled. Enrollment is on a rolling basis between April through September, as space permits.
