Literary Analysis, Symbolism, and Interpretation

Essential Question
Literary Analysis: What is revealed through imagery?

Project Description
When we interpret literature or art, we naturally call on our own motivations, perceptions, needs, fears, and experiences.
We see what we need to see, what we want to see.

Students learned about how the Roscharch Inkblot test was used to reveal personality traits and perceptions based on what people "saw" in the abstract images. This is similar to how people bring their own perceptions to art and literature. Students then made their own inkblots and went on a silent Art Gallery Walk to write down what they "saw" in each other's art.

Learning Goal
To show that people have a variety of interpretations of the same thing.
