It was such a pleasure to see you all at Exhibition of Learning. Events like these are such a powerful reminder of how our learners explore, connect, contribute and belong.
As we move closer to the end of the year, it is important to make sure your child is attending school, on-time, everyday. We value your child's contribution to our community. The best way to do this is to be in-person, at school. We only have 6 weeks of the 2022 left, everyday counts! Mandatory state testing is May 16-20th, it is essential this is completed before the end of the school year. Mark your calendars! Let's have 100% attendance.
Next week is the perfect time to show your teachers appreciation! Our Family Alliance has put together a week full of gratitude. If you would like to donate to our Teacher Appreciation fund, we would greatly appreciate it! You can donate in cash, by check, or through our PayPal. If you want to be involved in any way, please email Makenna Briceno.
Thank you for making our community a unique and valuable place to be.

Exhibition of Learning
Thank you for joining us at our second Exhibition of Learning for the 2022-2023 school year! Students truly embraced intellectual courage as they presented their learning to the IVA High parents and community. Our exhibit booths highlighted zines about social issues made by the English and Spanish classes, models of gardens built to sustain life on Mars by the Biology class, and animation of characters drawn in real time demonstrated by our Digital Art class. Our community took part in interactive portions of EOL that included voting for the best small business idea made by student entrepreneurs, voting for the best poem recitation performed by students, and creating animations using real time movements to animate their characters. In addition, we had community partners (Greenlight LB, Long Beach Library, and Adelitas Revenge) join us to share information and reources! We had an amazing night, and we are grateful to our community for attending!
Senior Camping Trip
We have an exciting and fun opportunity for our seniors to go camping in Joshua Tree, and the camping trip is right around the corner! If a senior would like to attend, the permission slip form must be completed no later than Wednesday, May 4th. Those attending will leave campus on Friday, May 13th at 10:00 am and return to campus on Sunday, May 15th around 1:00 pm. During the camping stay, students will set up their campsite together, go on hikes, cook food, enjoy a bonfire, and play games. Seniors won't want to miss this!
We are also in need of a parent chaperone/driver! If you are interested in driving, please let us know in the permission slip form and we will send you a driver form.
Payment of $40 can be made in the form of PayPal, cash, or check. Our PayPal information is found on our website academylongbeach.org under the 'giving' tab. Please make checks payable to Intellectual Virtues Academy of Long Beach. If you would like to sponsor another student, please do, we appreciate you! If cost is a concern, please email makenna.briceno@academylongbeach.org.
