We have a lot to celebrate this time of year! We received a very high rating from our first WASC accreditation self-study, we had the largest amount of freshman receive high honors, and we launched many extra-curricular club options, including an opportunity for students to qualify for a paid internship this summer!
We look forward to a creative and thought-provoking second semester. Save the date for our Spring Exhibition of Learning on April 13th. Come see how your student takes learning into their own hands.

WASC Visit Update
"IVA provides a variety of personal, social-emotional, and academic support for students to ensure the development of the whole person."
Last week, our accrediting agency (WASC) met with our teachers, students, parents, and board members, read our self-study report, and observed teaching within our classroom. Following the three day visit, WASC team presented our faculty and staff with their findings. In all categories, we scored at least an "effective" if not "highly effective".
For a fairly new school that is engaging with this process for the first time, it is rare to score "highly effective" or "effective" in all categories. Some of the categories where we scored a "highly effective" include school culture, personal, social-emotional, and academic support, and student-centered instruction. Additionally, validating and aligning with our school's growth areas, the WASC team identified enrollment, refinement of support systems, and engagement with the broader Long Beach community as areas of improvement.
We are grateful for the involvement of our staff, teachers, parents, board members, and students during this process. We look forward to the continuous improvement of our school in order to provide our students with meaningful and quality education.
Campus Highlight
IVA High Academy Awards Ceremony
Last Friday, we held our first IVA High Academy Awards Ceremony of the 2021-2022 school year. During this ceremony, we recognized students who received honors and high honors for their academic achievement during the first semester. Additionally, we award students who contribute to our IVA high community in positive and impactful ways.
These awards acknowledge student ambassadors, students who are a part of our Leadership club, and a student who provides a supportive environment through their engagement in multiple extra-curricular activities. Finally, we awarded Distinguished Intellectual Virtues Awards to a student from each grade level who have embraced the intellectual virtues holistically and who have shown engagement with the philosophy behind our school.
We congratulate our students who received awards, and we look forward to recognizing more students in future ceremonies.
